Tattoo Talk with Sarah from Sarahinwonderland

Name- Sarah
Website- www.sarahinwonderland.co.uk - I write a beauty, lifestyle and disability blog.

So what was your first tattoo and how old where you? My first tattoo was the black tribal thingy on my wrist and I was 19

Why did you choose that specific design? I thought it was cute and wanted something small as my first piece.

How many tattoos do you have currently? What are they? I have six tattoos; mini black tribal on my right wrist, two black stars on my left wrist (my Nan and Grandad), colour In Loving Memory on my left foot (Nan and Grandad, again), a black and grey crown on my inner right ankle, a large colour calf piece of two purple roses and an ornate key and a butterfly at the top of my spine.

Do you have a favorite piece? if so what one and why? My favourite is my foot, although it's faded slightly, I love the design and what it represents.

Did you do a lot of research in to your chosen artist/artists? I did after I got my first tattoo as I wanted more intricate, visually appealing designs so had a good look online.

Are you planning on anymore? I am, I want a quote by Oscar Wilde (I'm a massive fan of the Victorian era, I studied it for my BA and MA degrees) and a skull because I'm obsessed.

A silly question as pain is relative but Most painful tattoo? It was probably my leg as it took over four hours although my foot near my toes really bloody hurt.

General reaction from friends and family about your tattoos/body mods? Are they happy about you having them? My Mum constantly says, 'that's your last one now,' after I get a new piece and my Nan said 'I don't really like tattoos but I like them on you,' To be fair, I could have worn a binbag and she'd have approved. My family and friends are generally supportive and like them.

Reactions from members of the public about your tattoos/body mods, Good or Bad? I've only had good reactions and people are always impressed with my leg as it has no black lines and it's pretty. Lol.

Have you tattoos ever hindered anything you wanted to do, interviews, work, etc? Nope

Do you get asked did it hurt a lot? What do you tell people? All the time. I just say that everyone tolerates pain differently, I dislocate most days due to my chronic illness so I'm not really one to talk to about pain. I don't find being tattooed particularly painful.

Do you find people will touch your tattoo (body mods) without asking? If so how do you deal with it? YES. The amount of people that have stroked me is concerning. I give them the death-stare.

Shout out to the artist/artists hear if you want :) Dabs Tattoo in Southport!

Any parting words? Do your research, say 'no' if you don't like a custom design, it's going on your body after all...and get creative!
