Tattoo Talk with Alex from Lexidoodledoo

Alex Carpio

I've transferred from one blog to another since 2010. "Tick... Tock... It's Locked." (www.lexidoodledoo.com) started last year 2013. I then decided that it's going to be the last and serious one.  It's a personal blog that's basically memories and stuff I learn that I'd like to literally lock in my "online diary" and share to the world!

So what was your first tattoo and how old where you?
My first tattoo was a outline and shadow of 7 stars in my lower back. I was 21 years old.

Why did you choose that specific design (because i liked it is a perfectly acceptable answer)

I had a fixation for stars when I was younger.  It also represents 7 important people in my life during that time (the whole family)

How many tattoos do you have currently? What are they?
I have 6. The 7 starts on my lower back, a girl with a star shaped head piece (the design was a gift and an original) on my upper back, mom tattoo on my left chest, unfinished rose + diamond on my right shoulder, my last name on my right wrist and the word "fighter" on my left.

Do you have a favorite piece? if so what one and why?

The Mom Tattoo. It represents everything my Mom is in my life and I had it done when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

Did you do a lot of research in to your chosen artist/artists?

Not much. They were mostly friends and my brothe!

Are you planning on anymore?

Yes! Definitely. Will have to finish the rose + diamond first then get another one after I give birth! Maybe something to do with my little munchkin this time.

A silly question as pain is relative but Most painful tattoo?

Well, the first one of course AND those on my wrists! They're the smallest but, man they're painful!

General reaction from friends and family about your tattoos/body mods? Are they happy about you having them?

My mom was an artist and she had one too. My uncle was in a band and had tattoos also. Those who didn't have it wasn't to keen about it at first, but they eventually just stopped complaining about it.

Reactions from members of the public about your tattoos/body mods, Good or Bad?

It varies. Some are shocked at first, I mean being a "girl" and in this country. Some love it and would like to have one too.

Have your tattoos ever hindered anything you wanted to do, interviews, work, etc?
Yes. In this side of the world, there are some companies who do not accept people with tattoos.

Do you get asked did it hurt a lot? What do you tell people?
Everyone asks that. I say "Yes! but it's tolerable and all worth it"

Do you find people will touch your tattoo (body mods) without asking? If so how do you deal with it?
People usually ask first. I think they already notice that I'm not comfortable with just touching it like it's on paper.

Shout out to the artist/artists hear if you want :)
