Tattoo Talk with Jennifer from Mamafurfur

Name- Jennifer aka MamaFurfur

Website- Tell us a bit about your blog if you want.
I write a blog about the daily adventures of a regular working Mama, balancing life, work, step kids, own family whilst trying to keep fit and healthy.  It’s an honest blog with focus on healthy lifestyle and parenting right now, as these are my own personal focus goals this year.  Find me at www.mamafurfur.com

So what was your first tattoo and how old where you?
I never ever imagined I would be the person to get a tattoo at all!  But seeing more and more tattoos on people I love, and how interesting they can be to see people’s styles and choices – although I was afraid of what it would feel like – I did it as I wanted one too.

First tattoo was a treble clef & bass clef that make a heart shape, right above my C-Section scar on my right hip area.  Completed 18 months ago when I was 32yrs

Why did you choose that specific design?
I wanted something that involved my love for music but also a reminder to be proud of my birth scar J

How many tattoos do you have currently? What are they?
I have three now in total.  My hip one (described before), a small heart on my inside left foot, and an anchor on my right inside lower arm.  The heart and anchor were completed at the same session. Photos attached

Do you have a favorite piece? if so what one and why?
Favourite one is the anchor on my arm, as I had it completed post a miscarriage and a time in my life when I felt that I should always remember how strong the spirit is and to use that as the guide for my life.

Did you do a lot of research in to your chosen artist/artists?
Nope, I just did research online as to what were the best local tattoo shops with the best reviews, and off I went J

Are you planning on anymore?
Never say never….

A silly question as pain is relative but Most painful tattoo?
I would say that my inside foot, as it is a sensitive area and swells up quite a lot post it.

General reaction from friends and family about your tattoos/body mods? Are they happy about you having them?
Everyone I show them to likes them, but tattoos aren’t for them anyway J

Reactions from members of the public about your tattoos/body mods, Good or Bad?
None so far

Have you tattoos ever hindered anything you wanted to do, interviews, work, etc?
No, but I work in a professional environment, so personally I prefer to cover the one of my lower arm if I am off to see customers or for more professional occasions.  Not that I am ashamed, but more I want to be sure not to allow someone to judge me before they know me in those situations.

Do you get asked did it hurt a lot? What do you tell people?
Nope actually – I think tattoos are very common now more so than ever, so people don’t really ask too many questions now.

Do you find people will touch your tattoo (body mods) without asking? If so how do you deal with it?
Nope thankfully J

Any parting words?
Tattoos are a very personal thing, they can tell stories or mark important occasions.  If you have had a baby, you can handle the pain of a tattoo for sure! So if you are thinking about having your first one, then it isn’t anything to be scared of at all.
Since having tattoos, I love to ask people why they have some pieces they do, and find out more about their life.  Every picture tells a thousand words.
