Tattoo Talk with Kourtney from A Growing Petal

It's time for this weeks
This time we have...

Name- Kourtney.
Website-
It's mainly a lifestyle blog where I talk about mental health issues, wishlists and home decor inspiration.

So what was your first tattoo and how old where you?
My first tattoo was The Notebook quote "If you're a bird, I'm a bird." and I got that when I was only 15.

Why did you choose that specific design?
I choose that because (truthfully) I wanted something quick so they didn't catch on I was under aged so it sprung to mind before I walked in, and I got it there and then. I do love The Notebook though, and I don't regret it.

How many tattoos do you have currently? What are they?
I currently have 8 tattoos. I have done a post about all my tattoos over on my blog, but they range from tributes, a game of thrones style tattoo and one to myself, and the Disney castle.

Do you have a favorite piece? if so what one and why?
I have two favourite piece's
My Game of Thrones style thigh tattoo.I love her because it's my recent tattoo, and I love GOT, it's of Daenerys who reminds me to be a strong women!
Me on my arm, she has large red hair with the quote "Imperfection is beauty". I love her because I got it during a difficult time, where I hated myself and she reminds me to love myself and all my flaws, plus I drew her.

Did you do a lot of research in to your chosen artist/artists?
Not really, though I do recommend doing so for newbies. The artists I went too are close to where I live, but I'm lucky to live near amazing tattooists.

Are you planning on any more?
Yes.I want my whole body covered. I am currently working on a sleeve, but it's hard to decide which arm I want it on, and if it should be girly or Halloween themed!

A silly question as pain is relative but Most painful tattoo?
Most painful was my back, specially over my spine. It was so painful that I nearly fainted. Also eat before your tattoo session, and drink loads of water!

General reaction from friends and family about your tattoos/body mods? Are they happy about you having them?
Some of my family love them, and others dislike them just because they don't like tattoos, which is totally fine. As long as I'm happy, they're happy and they've never stopped me expressing myself since an early age.

Reactions from members of the public about your tattoos/body mods, Good or Bad?
Reactions from the general public have always been good, I haven't received a bad comment. I wouldn't be angry if I did get a bad comment because it's their opinion, and it doesn't effect my life. I'm always lusting over other peoples tattoos, which would probably get annoying.

Have you tattoos ever hindered anything you wanted to do, interviews, work, etc?
They've never stopped me, no. Maybe because they can all (but one) be covered up.

Do you get asked did it hurt a lot? What do you tell people?
Yes lots of people do ask that question, it's so common. I never know what to tell them, so I just say "it's like being stabbed with a needle over and over again, but everybody is different" But I do feel odd answering that because I don't have alot of tattoos.

Do you find people will touch your tattoo (body mods) without asking? If so how do you deal with it?
I hate it when people grab my arm to twist it round to have a look, I find it very rude. I don't mind people asking to have a look, so when they do touch without asking they get a gob full. This is my personal space people!

Shout out to the artist/artists hear if you want :)
If you are ever in Cumbria and want an amazing tattoo, I would highly recommend Megan Fell at Mikes Tattoos!

Any partying words?
If you want a tattoo design or a piercing badly, get it done! You only live once, so why not do thing's we love?

Thanks a lot to Kourtney for taking part, be sure to go and check out her blog and if you would like to feature on Tattoo Talk then shoot me an email or a tweet.
